Smax won't go into EPB service mode?

Featured Replies

Hi to anyone who can help?

I have Smax Vignale 2016 2.0 TDCi Bi Turbo (210) Aoutomatic

I can not seem to get the electronic parking brake into service mode. I have followed many yoytube videos and other posts but it doesn't work.

1. Make sure EPB is released

2. Press ignition button to turn ignition only on (engine not running)

3. Press and hold accelerator pedal

4. Press and hold down brake button

5. Press ignition button (turn off)... and within 5 secs...

6. Press ignition button (turn on)

7. Release accelerator pedal

8. Release Brake button

This does not work, have spent a whole day trying variations. I even drove to a flat surface to make sure the car was level (as this can be a problem apparently).

Has anyone had this problem and knows what to do?

Many thanks to anyone who can help

Tom

Thanks unofix, I have seen that particular video already (along with about 10 others) - that does not work on my car - it does nothing at all.

There must be someone who has experienced this issue, I'm thinking that maybe the Vignale has a different method, or that facility isn't in my car at all for some reason - It seems that probably you have to use a Ford diagnostic tool for the Vignale perhaps?

It's a real nuisance as I have the discs and the pads but completely unable to change them at home. Tried my ford dealer and they won't talk to me (thanks Busseys Norwich!)

Thanks

Tom

Just switch ign on, take handbrake off, ign off. Take pads out, push the pistons in, don't try winding them in. Fit new discs and pads. Pump the brake pedal to get piston to make contact with pads. Then you can put ign on then  handbrake back on. Sorted.

Replacement fingers are available if the above procedure fails to work.
