Mk 4 focus st clicking noise from engine bay

Featured Replies

I have a strange clicking noise coming from what’s sounds to be the left side of the engine bay. This only occurs when working on the car or washing it. I seam to think it’s something to do with a sensor registering the car key in my pocket but not sure.

the clicking noise can be quite constant but not that loud, I was changing the brake discs and pads the other day there and it was constantly clicking away. I have even put the key in the house and still heard a few clicks here and there from the car so also not sure if it’s some form of security system detecting movement with the car.

Can anyone shed light on this or has anyone experienced it?

thanks

It will make all sorts of clicks and noises if you keep opening and shutting doors. Or were they closed the whole time?

Closed the whole times when I was changing break pads and discs, only bonnet was open, I’m unsure of it kept picking up the key being close to the car while moving around. Can’t find another forum stating what it is so just curious

My wife’s Focus is doing exactly same thing and after closer inspection it turns to be one a driver door handle keyless. So at the moment I just turn it off in Forscan and disconnect wire in handle as it was discharging battery very quickly so she couldn’t start in the morning.

To make sure yours has same problem just watch for indicators to blink if it does it means one of the handles are faulty

Sounds bang on the issue I had because the battery did end up dying… as I thought it would as it was constant.

I ended up switching off keyless entry through the dashboard menu but will definitely switch it off with forescan as there is nothing worse leaving for work in the morning and the car doesn’t start 🙄

There is a wire connecting door handle as well .
Just search YouTube .
