Focus MK2.5 1.8i 16V Resonator Delete

Featured Replies

Since I've got a 1.8, I figured there was no point in having any major exhaust work done, but I wanted the car to sound like it actually had an engine; after some research I decided that a centre box delete was probably the most reasonable option for something a little more understated than a straight pipe or even a backbox delete.

Powerflow wanted £150 for the job, which I thought was mental considering it's a 1m straight pipe slip-fit with a flange welded to it, so I called around a few places before finding P D Gough near Nottingham, who quoted £80 based on my description of the run. Total time - from calling them for the quote to driving away with it fitted - was less than 2 hours, and they're a 30 minute drive away. Can't recommend them highly enough, and they're a proper fabricators so if you actually have something worth doing properly like an ST or RS, they could probably do whatever you could dream up.

EDIT: Just realized when I re-watched the video after posting I should probably point out that that exhaust tip was bodge-fitted to the car when I bought it, and will be getting replaced or just thrown away at some point. Only thing I had done today was the resonator cut out.

Apparently I'm the only person mental enough to have had this done, but if anyone else is ever considering it, here's what the finished result sounds like. I assume the 1.6 and the 2.0 wouldn't be far off, either.
