Temporary spare wheel

Featured Replies

Had my first puncture yesterday, I had a screw in the tyre, luckily it was repairable, I fitted the temporary spare wheel, in the car I had an orange light saying the spare had 6psi, I haven't had a chance to check the pressure in the spare, but surely it would have looked flat? I drove it to my preferred tyre fitters about 10 miles away, luckily I was stuck behind a scooter, that didn't go more that 50mph, how accurate is the sensor on the spare, as it could replace any of the 4 wheels.

Temporary spares I believe do not have pressure monitors in them and won’t register on the TPMS

That makes total sense, as I'm sure 6psi would have looked flat.

It was still reading the tyre with the screw in it.

Though the spare probably is underinflated as well.  People forget to check them.

That would have been the pressure in the tyre with the puncture.

The manual for the T125/70R16 says 60psi, I will check the pressure on the spare.

If you are looking for a spare wheel, I have one in our garage. Came off our 2009 cc. 17 inch. Sold the car in 2013 and kept the wheel. £10 will go to charity. Howard on 07919 050508. Buyer collects from Hampshire.
