Coolant loss and top up.

Found coolant to be below minimum.  Topped up and run car and with no further loss.

Two questions...any idea why I lost coolant and are there any air locks / air release I should look at?

Cheers Brian

If the car was only run over a short distance, the thermostat may not have opened, which can hide a hole in the radiator.

Also worth checking the carpets aren't damp as the heater matrix is another potential loss area.

Then you've got the more general leaks, stat housing, reservoir, waterpump and EGR cooler.

These should self bleed.  If the level hasn't dropped, the heaters are hot and there's no gurgling, there's not likely to be any air left in there.

Tom's right about the coolant reservoir, I have had to replace 2 recently.

They leak from underneath and it's not obvious.

I check by running my hand over the bottom of reservoir.
