180 reverse camera vs standard reverse camera

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I've just ordered a brand new Focus Titanium X, with driver's assistance pack, which includes the 180 reverse camera.

However, in theory, the Titanium X in my country (Romania) also includes a standard reverse camera, which according to user manual has the dynamic parking guidelines - according to configurator, but not present in the offer I was being sent on paper by the dealer.

Now my first question is: should I assume that the 180 camera is installed in the same place as the normal reverse camera? Meaning there's no way to have both of them in the same car?

Second question: does the 180 camera have the dynamic guiding lines when parking?

Thanks belon.

So it's an upgrade. What version (MK) is the car you posted pictures from? Seems like my current Kuga mk 2.5

Both questions has not much sense in it.

The 180 camera, aka wide view, is just a feature, which makes view to be almost 180 degree. This is achieved by super wide optics of the camera, which is able to see 180 degree. In normal view, simply not full picture is presented. As you can see, there is only one camera!

Regarding your second question, it does not make sense to show dynamic lines in 180 view.

Well, I strongly disagree piotrmod. As an example, I did not know before this if Ford decided to place 2 cameras maybe. Maybe one in the standard position and one in the upper part, up above the window (some cars have it there). I did not pay attention to this when I did the test drive.

Would you imply the 180 camera is physically the same camera as the standard one, eg, the 180 degrees is just a software "checkbox" ? I, for one, do not know, and that's why I'm asking in such forum...

The second question does make sense: I was not asking if the parking guides are present in the 180 degrees view... just that they are present on the 180 camera when parking, since I do not remember this aspect when I did the test drive.

So, please, do not make me feel stupid just because I'm asking stuff you already know. If I would reply in the same way in my domain knowledge, many people would feel offended. That's what I felt when reading the questions don't make sense.

I'm not a complete newbie with Ford, I know my way with Forscan and installed in my old mk2.5 focus an Android head unit replacement and installed quite a few dashcams for me and friends.

I'm very sorry that my, maybe a bit too direct, reply offended you. Please forgive me.

I'm working now on adding front parking camera. I'm sniffing LIN bus and CAN bus to see how it works. Believe, me I know know these cameras. The device is the same. Wide view is just a feature of the camera device. There is only one type for Focus MK4.

Wide view - the screen is divided in three sections showing narrowed pictures, in this view there are no guidelines nor parking sensor view. In normal view, there are guidelines with dynamic lines as standard in all Focus Mk4 and parking sensor view. There is also third view - zoom, also without the guidelines nor parking sensor view. In zoom, the view is just, in opposite to wide view, a bit narrow showing closeup picture, imo not much useful.

Wide view is very handy when reversing into a road, you can see cars approaching from sides.

@piotrmodDid you ever discover if the camera hardware was the same regarding normal reverse camera view and split ‘wide’ reverse camera view? I do wonder if it’s just an option configured in the computer somewhere.

Oh wow nice! Mine came with a reversing camera from factory however, it lacks the wide Split View button that I believe comes with the park pack. As my camera is configured from factory is it just a case of enabling the Split View in the APIM? Or do I still need to make changes in the BdyCM

All configurations are in the linked post. There is also the "recipe" for Sync 2.5 a few posts along.
