Oil pump broken after just 60000km

Featured Replies

1.0 Ecoboom from 2019, knocking sound in the morning for maybe 1 hour, not too noticable, thought it might have been AC compressor because it was a hot day - then oil pressure warning light when driving a couple of hours later, zero noise before warning so pump was probably toast. Told the garage about my fidning, call back an hour later confirming it was the pump and no other damage was done (lucky).

Is this reasonable? I have insurance but still have to pay 450 quid in deductible. Such a low milage and young car with such devastating issues.

Why isn't this  a recall, I read so much about these useless wetpumps breaking but Ford just ignores it? Two major faults within a year with things that should never be close to breaking on a car this young. What causes this? My driving style or just bad luck?

Thoughts?

Knocking sound:
