Dpf or no dpf

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I own a 65plate 1.5 diesel focus had it since 2017 never had an issue except for the door-seals, I do about 60-100 miles a week  at speeds from 30 - 60(including expressway ) travel time on average 30mins total. I don’t understand why I have never had a dpf issue everything I read says these short journeys. Are no good for it. Cars serviced yearly too so possibly helps. Car was brought from main dealer and has Mots in different places so I’m ruling out its been drilled out and remapped.
The wife owns a 63 plate mondeo  and has had multiple dpf issues. So can anyone tell me if I have a dpf or not?

Fairly sure that will have a DPF.  Is it a 95 or 120ps version?

It's a coated DPF and very close the engine so shouldn't have as many issues as older cars or cars with the DPF underneath.  Also no vaporiser to clog up, unlike the 2.0 in sone models.

Thanks Tom, pretty sure it’s a 95 version, this goes a long way in explaining why I’m getting away with it disappointed it’s not magic though🙄, so as long as I’m giving it a decent 30 min run each day should be ok?

These cDPF's are pretty reliable in my experience.  30 mins a day should be more than enough on these.

I had a 1.6 TDCI with pretty much the same DPF that only did a 30 minute trip once a week and never had any DPF issues.  If I noticed it failing a few on shorter runs (fan running on) I would purposely take it for a longer drive as soon as I could.
