Engine Ticking

Featured Replies

So last night i was driving home at night, pretty lead footed. i noticed a strange noise from my car. When i was accelerating in low gears the car didnt sound normal. Once i parked up at home i slowly incresed revs at idle and around 1500-2000 rpm a ticking noise kicked in. It sounded like a failing cambelt or something but that was done this past year, so i highly doubt its that. Car is a 2012 1.6 zetec s focus.

I'd remove the cambelt cover and just have a look to be sure.

Can you pinpoint by ear where the ticking is coming from ?

No because i turned the car off, left it 2 mins and it stopped. Quite frequently i start my car up and i get a rapid ticking which goes after a couple seconds but i dont know if it is related. Definitely not a rod knock which is better i guess. I was thnking maybe a tensioner.
