Lights question

Featured Replies

I have a Ford focus 1.6 TDCI 2014 6 speed manual Zetec spec.

Does anyone know whether my car has automatic daytime running lights? So when my lights are in the off position, it still has daytime lights on automatically?

I meant to start the car and actually get out and look but haven’t got round to it yet, I’ve attached photos of the internal area.

Finally what is the push light in the centre of the light circle for? Currently is pressed in but I don’t know its purpose

no I don’t have a manual

many thanks

Since 2011, DRLs have been a legal requirement for all new passenger cars and small vans, so yes, yours should have them fitted.

You can get your car manual here, and then enjoy all the features your car has...

I'll leave this for someone smarter than me to answer. It may have something to do with the type approval of your car being allocated before the 2011 legislation, really not sure, of course, they could simply be faulty!

If it doesn't have any, would be a simple job to add some, I added some to my 2005 Focus!

These may be of interest for your specific car...

That’s a good Idea, I will check that out, of course there always the chance that they only come on when it detects it’s dark enough. Though this isn’t DRL it’s more of an auto light feature, I’ll go out when it’s dark later and turn the car on and see if they’ve came on and report back

Just checked the photo you posted, nope, your car does not have DRLs fitted. As you say, DRLs are controlled by turning the car ignition on, nothing to do with ambient light...

The push button in the centre is for manual dipped beam levelling when you have a large load in the boot.

Press it in and it'll pop out, then you can twist it to the desired levelling number and push it back in again.

Your car does not have DRL's because it was type approved before they became mandatory.  Higher spec Mk3's do have DRLs, along with Xenon dipped beam and automatic on/off functions.
