1.0 EcoBoost turbo change

Hi all,

I have a 2013 1.0L EcoBoost engine and the turbo is making a rattling noise. I suspect wastegate worn out but not an expert.

I will upload a video URL for the sound it is making, note that it only happens when throttle released and falling to lower RPM’s.

I am thinking of changing the turbo, has anyone done this before themselves and is there anything to consider or any advice you could give?

    Whilst i didnt do it myself, i was tea maker and biccy supplier (and general banter)  for the bloke to who did mine. It solved my P132 error btw, as the wastegate was sticking.  Took about 3 hours, inc oil change (bought castrol 5w20e from ford outlet on ebay for £29 shipped, for 5 litres) .

     

    Turbo to downpipe bolts snapped ( 2 of the 4), rest were ok, the bolts were drowned in plusgas.

     

     

    I got my replacement from pumaspeed with discount code, was about £240

    As for noise, short of taking it apart it could be hard to pinpoint, as it could be the core rattling off boost
