MTX75 input shaft seal. Help part no.

Featured Replies

I am doing a lot of work on the 2008 1.8 TDCI. New driveshaft seals are in. CSC is off. Looking for the input shaft seal for the MTX75 box and was expecting to see a thick black washer covering the bearing (which is original and SKF and 60K miles). But can't see any seal like that at all. Am I missing a seal? See photos. Is this how it should look?

Could someone kindly advise:

a) if a seal should be in there.

B) if yes to above then the part number?

I have a seal corteco 12015750B which seems right from Autodoc but outer diameter is only 42mm and the space to fill looks like 50-55mm.

Possible leakage of gear oil into the clutch side (behind the CSC)? No more than a couple of drops equivalent as I could see. But given the hassle getting to this point and it's age considering to renew.

Thanks a bunch.

This one is listed in the parts catalogue for Mk2 MTX75.  I don't have any personal experience with this 'box though.

Thanks, yeah I saw that one but it is the same OEN as the Corteco one I have (slightly different inner design) so means the same questions I raised before (as outer diameter is 42mm) plus as per photos I can see nothing looking like either one at the base of the shaft. I haven't taken anything except the CSC out.

The point I am making is that I would not have expected to remove the CSC and find that I can see the bearing. I would have expected to see an input shaft seal covering the bearing.

Hi all members.Anyone out there knowledgeable about the MTX75 transmission and its input shaft seal? There are more than a few Mtx75 out there ... Will soon replace the CSC on the trans and then access will gone. Advice on this very welcome indeed !

Enter your VIN number on the following site and you should find the details of the gearbox for your car.

This VIN link is no good (at least not for my UK car). Looks like UAE and USA (Ford did not sell the 1.8 TDCI in USA as far as I know).

OK update on this. Haynes says the input shaft seal and slave are as one. The part number Tom (and I) mention seems to be on the other side of the bearing (i.e. within the gearbox, not between the CSC and the bearing. That's how it looks to me anyway. So will proceed without changing the input shaft seal (as no notable leak anyway).

Returned the Made in China Loctite 518 which might have been authentic, but could not verify it with Loctite's online system or calling Henkel UK (who only cover UK or EU production). Bought and awaiting Permatex 51813 (Made in USA seller tells me) and am in touch with Permatex USA to verify item when I get it (Permatex USA are helpful and respond quickly). Can't take a risk on unauthenticated liquid gasket in such a crucial role.
