Smax 2015 2.0l Advice

Featured Replies

Good morning all, I wanted to get some advice on the Smax 2015 2.0l diseal.

When upon starting the vehicle when either cold or warm the radiator fans go on. I wanted to know if this was normal for this car. There's no warning lights no other problems I can see.

If the AC is left on or 'auto' then the rad fans will run all the time the AC is.

Hi thanks for replying, I have the ac/cabin fans off, but still the coolant fans come on, they go off soon as the cars switched off

In that case, it's not normal operation and there is a fault.

You got any suggestions on what it could be? I check the relays, there fine.

Fan control module would be my best guess if there aren't any other issues.  It's likely to be mounted on the fan surround.

Could also be a wiring fault but that's more difficult to diagnose.

Just wanted to ask, I check the car battery and it's at 12.2v would the battery be causing this type of fault?

No.

Any other fault codes (Forscan?) as it MAY (or not) be connected with Active Grille Shutter if fitted?
We have had a lost communication error for 10 years so it has never worked but if it is jammed shut for example I think that might cause the fans to stay on, all other suggestions may of course be correct?

Further to my last comment:
