Knocking suspension springs

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a 2010 2.0 tdci s-max ever since owning when I start to drive and turn steering wheel you can hear something like the springs are being hit I had wishbone bushings changed could it be the bushings for the struts no problems with steering everything

Hi Robert I had the same on my s-max 2.2, It is the front shock absorber top mount on the side you hear it from, I you should change both sides together really. You can do it if yourself if you know how to do it but it is a arduous job and you NEED a pair of spring compressors. I got my top mounts from eBay £50 a pair with a 10 year guarantee (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252062156552). If you take it to a mechanic expect to pay a couple of hundred because as I said it is a easy but hard job (also the top nut can be a nightmare) Also I am a qualified mechanic 😇
