Looking for advice - 2014Focus 1.5T EcoBoost Titanium Estate

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you might be able to help.

We are looking to replace our current estate car and my car-loving friend found a Focus 1.5T EcoBoost Titanium Estate that he thought looked good.  Unfortunately, he lives quite far away so wouldn't be able to come and have a look at the car with me.  Does anyone have any advice about this model?  Are there known faults?  Things to look for when buying a 2014 model?

Thank you!

The major fault with this engine is a cooling issue.  There are 2 broken on this forum within the past week.  This is the 4 cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost if you want to do further research on it.

The cambelt is overdue if not done already, so check that.

Regarding the car itself, 2014 was the earliest Mk3 facelift model, so there may have been some minor issues in those as with any new release.

Rain leaks are particularly common on the Mk3's, so check the boot and footwells for water ingress.  The door seals often fall off as well.  Also check the AC is ice cold as they are notorious for minor AC leaks that are hard to find.

Aside from that, the Mk3.5 Focus is a fairly good car.  By this age, I might expect some suspension bushes to need replacing but wouldn't expect any rust yet.
