Need Sony DAB stereo head for Ford Focus Titanium 59 plate

Featured Replies

Hi Esteemed Members,

I bought a UK 59 plate ford focus titatnium last year (1.6L) and randomly my stereo (SONY DAB Radio) started fluctuating between power On and Off the day before. I got it disconnected as it was very irritating to drive.
I am looking to get it repaired or change the same. Can someone guide me where I can find the same stereohead? I will need one with a code. Since its an old car, I thought of enquiring here first.

I also wanted to know if I can replace it with something more modern with Bluetooth connectivity (car play or Google play not mandatory) for my phone or if should i go for the same model.

Any help is much appreciated

It’s worth looking at something a bit more modern.

I updated mine several years back initially to a Windows CE based unit which fitted into the standard Ford fascia and retained CD drive.

Now running a larger Android touchscreen unit which came as part of fascia panel that fits the Ford dash. And was able to run DAB app using adaptor that connected to the Ford DAB antenna my car was originally built with.

Gives lots more options for things such as sat nav, reversing camera and all sorts of Google Play apps if you wish.

Take a look on eBay or Aliexpress to see what’s available

it may be an easy fix, find a local electronics guru

The radio code can be generated for the OEM headunits so that's not really a concern.

The easiest and cheapest option will be to replace like for like.  However there are several different headunits that look the same but have different functions.  Some are just FM & CD.  Some have DAB.  Some have 6CD.  Some have USB input.  Also need to make sure you get a Focus unit as the Mondeo ones don't fit despite looking the same.

Obviously if you don't use things like the DAB or 6CD functions then you can fit a more basic one which will be easier to source.

These units never were particularly robust so I'd try and get one with a warranty if you do buy used.

The other option is to fit an aftermarket unit as has been covered above.  Entirely depends on how much functionality you want or need from the headunit.

I fitted a Sony DAB unit from a 2014 Mondeo into my 2006 Focus.

The square quadlock connector for the power and speakers was exactly the same.

I did have to drill holes for the mounting screws as my car was fitted with the early type square face head unit.

I must be getting confused with another model.  Perhaps it's Focus units that don't fit the Fiesta. 🤔
