Top of interior roof at the rear.

What causes the interior of a roof in a car to cause mould to appear. I have a 2013 Ford Focus 1.6 TDI Zetec and mould has appeared at the rear of the interior roof covering. Any suggestions as to how or why it is appearing. There doesn't seem to be any sign of leaks etc.

have you looked in the spare wheel well

If you do find a pool of water in the boot, then you can progress on finding out where the leak is...

Yes iv looked every where. But no leaks present. I was told that there wher 3 door seals missing which would cause this mould. But I dont know if it's true. Would this cause mould ?

Yes it's completely dry. I was told by a guy who works in Halfords. That there should be seals on the bottom of each door. He says there are 3 missing. And that will cause the condensation to rise and cause the mould. Is he right. If so are they dear lol

Condensation can only come from water, so it must be somewhere in the car.  If it's not in the boot or the footwells, then there is a slim chance that it's sitting on the door ledges of one side if the car is parked on a slight angle.

However, these seals fall off all the time and I've never seen anyone else complain of a mouldy roof.

The seals go all the way round the door.  So if yours are only missing at the bottom, someone probably cut the loose parts off rather than re-attach them.  The seals cost over £50 each.  They are different for front and rear.  It's probably best to contact a Ford parts desk and give them your reg to make sure you get the correct door seals.  However, here is one as an example - Genuine Ford Focus MK3 Focus MK3 Front Door Weatherstrip Seal 1750005 | eBay

Thank you. I have installed a mini humidifier in the boot and car interior. And I have cleaned the roof interior  with diluted vinegar. So let's see what happens now. Thankyou
