MK4 Focus - Revs go down as I accelerate.

Featured Replies

Greetings folks,

Since this weekend, my 2023 Focus has been having an unusual behaviour.

While accelerating, my revs will go up (as normal) and then dip a little bit and it feels like the car loses power for a bit.

I've noticed the mild hybrid engine isn't kicking in as it should, it seems like I need to step on the gas way more before it activates, which isn't its usual behaviour as well.

Even when going up a fairly small hill, the car seems to be way weaker than it was.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance.

Something I noticed as well: When the car tries to charge the battery by slowing down, it immediately goes back up again and it enters a cycle where it tries to charge, fails, and goes back again. Somehow it feels like a battery problem.
