Seeking Advice: Engine Failure and High Repair Costs

Hi all,

I recently got an engine failure warning on my dashboard and took my car to the service center. They diagnosed the issue as follows:

"MIL on... DTCs present relating to camshaft timing... due to loss of oil pressure. Also, DTC present for O2 sensor low voltage... reassess after engine repair. No engine oil pressure... internal engine damage + suspect damage to turbo. Requires new engine assembly + any additional items found to be damaged as a result."

They quoted me around £7,000 for the repair.

I’ve read that this is a known issue with Ford, especially with the oil pressure. I’m not sure what to do at this point and wanted to ask if anyone knows whether Ford is offering recalls or goodwill repairs for this fault?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Is there a dealer or another workshop to ask for another opinion/check?

It looks like the wet belt has failed. The engine is shot and the turbo will be too

You can either pay them for the repair or

Pay Ford for a new engine & turbo or

Source and fit a known running 2nd hand engine, which you have the belts changed BEFORE you fit

I believe Pumaspeed can replace the engine for a decent price

Ford are unlikely to offer any Goodwill on a 2017 model.  Has it got full service history within the required time and distances?  If not, they definitely won't offer anything.

You could try Approved Engines in Sudbury which shouldn't be too far from your location.  They offer both brand new or reconditioned engines for much less than Ford dealerships.

1.0 EcoBoost engine | Purchase new or reconditioned – Approved Engines

We're assuming (probably correctly) that this is a 1.0 ecoboost but this is not mentioned in the OP.

I assumed Ecoboom too
