Diesel runs badly when cold with P1102

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2011 1.6 diesel for my other half and she is not happy 😞

It's runs fine when it's been hot for a while, although it doesn't really feel like 108bhp to me, but it's a dog when cold, so much so that it is dangerous.  It starts perfectly and seems fine, but it has no power at all.  Unfortunately she lives at the bottom of a steep hill, which she must climb at the start of her journey to work.  Maximum speed up the hill when cold is 30mph and the position of the right foot has absolutely no affect on the speed or engine revs.

Yesterday she had a miserable trip to work at 6 AM and it wouldn't pass 50 mph on the motorway, but the return trip in late afternoon was fine.  Error code is P1102, Mass airflow sensor - operating/range problem.  This afternoon we seem to have added a P0132, which is O2 sensor 1 high voltage.

All suggestions welcome

Sounds like a blocked EGR heat exchanger. Needs to be removed and cleaned properly. Don’t waste time and money with any additives. The carbon has blocked the air passage through the exchanger which is restricting the air flow. Probably runs better when warm due to the carbon softening

Thanks, I'll try it
