Tyre Sensors not detected

Featured Replies

I have had a warning light and notification of ‘tyre sensors not detected, check manual’ come up a few times now over the past few weeks. I have checked all tyre pressures and they are fine. I have also tried a few time to reset the sensors. I own a 2014 Ford fiesta, and the only thing that had to be done on it in the past month is a new battery.
Does anyone know what the issue might be? I  don’t want to have to take it to the garage if it’s something fairly easy to fix

thank you

Have you had the car from new? Tire sensors each have an individual battery fitted to each one. They only last about 7 years so if on original, well overdue for replacement. You can't 'replace' the batteries as it's a sealed unit, but new sensors aren't that expensive to buy...

If it were me, I'd buy the sensors online from somewhere like Ebay, and get them fitted at your local KwikFit or similar.

Thank you! Definitely sounds like it will be the batteries then, as they haven’t been replaced before. I will have a look online for some replacements. Thank again

Hi, i just bought a 2014 fiesta about 2 months ago and within the first couple of weeks the "tyre sensors not detected" alarm started coming on. After checking online etc i bought 4 new sensors off ebay. Now battling to find a tyre placing willing to fit them for me! some giving insurance reasons, others will only fit sensors bought from them, others not willing to fit as they dont know if their machine will be able to program my new sensors. Any suggestions? Cheapest quote from one of them for new sensors and fitting was 100 pounds per wheel!

That is downright extortionate, £400?? Did you try, KwikFit or ATS, or even a good local independent tire shop?

YouTube putting the car into learn mode for the sensors. If it doesn’t go through the learning programme u may need to deflate ur tyres as ur running the learn program. Also I had same problem when I replaced mine. And had to buy a little machine thing to activate the sensors as the lie dormant in the factory to save the battery’s hope this helps

Also very easy to fit do not pay anymore than £30/40. U can let air out of tyre and stand on it u will be able to get to them. I bought the cheapest sensors I could find on eBay and they worked fine. Bit of messing round to get them to program properly. Mine is a 14plate aswell

Which size tyres do you have?  The low profile tyres on Fiesta 17's are enough of a fight with a proper tyre machine.  I guess standing on them works if they're only 14 or 15" with high profiles?

My Local kwikfit was the first place called after i saw somewhere online that they fitted another owners sensors for 10 pounds per wheel. Mine told me they wouldnt fit them for me due to insurance reasons and they would only fit their own sensors. 100 pounds per wheel. Tried another couple of places today. Cheapest fitting i can get so far is 25 pounds per wheel. After all these hassles i emailed the ebay seller and they informed that the sensors are pre programmed so no programming will be needed at least. Hopefully...

They still need to be 'synchronised' to the car, although that's not technically programming.  Otherwise you'd be picking up the tyre pressures from every Ford you drove within 6 feet of...

That can be done with a very cheap tool from Ebay or Amazon though.

Merry Christmas all. Got my slightly scuffed rims powder coated week before Christmas and had them fit the new tyre valves for me at the same time. Unfortunately still getting exactly the same "tyre monitor malfunction service required" alarm popping up on my dash (2014 Fiesta). It doesn't come on as quickly now for some reason... Reminder the ebay seller said they were pre programmed so would not need any further sync/ matching when fitted. Have emailed the seller a couple of times but no response yet. Perhaps closed for xmas holidays. Anyone had this same scenario where the alarm still comes on after fitting new tpms valves? Wondering if it might be related to the quite different front and rear wheel recommended tyre pressures of 230kpa front and 180kpa rear? (205/17/40 tyres) The tyres are all maintaining their pressures so there's no leaks.

I'm not sure how that would be possible. How did the ebay seller manage to tell your car which wheel had which TPMS sensor fitted ?
