Diagnostics

Featured Replies

Took car to garage to get some codes checked out, the diagnostics machine connected to the car ok and recognised it and had the vin no. But that's where it stopped, no codes showing at all. The guy said diagnostics on ford's was quite often problematic. Any advice please? Trying to avoid going to main dealers because of cost and also don't know much about cars so layman's terms appreciated! Thanks.

Hi, there are really only 2 choices to read all Ford codes.

Either go to a Ford dealer.

Or get Forscan to use yourself.  You will need to buy an adapter for it.  The adapter type will depend on whether you have a laptop or a mobile device to use it with.

If you have read DTCs before and you think an investment in the OBD adaptor is worth it (it is not expensive really) then buy one and use FORscan.

Otherwise, the Ford dealer will be able to read everything and, hopefuly, to interpret all the DTCs. What the error code says is quite important, and it is not always obvious (at least not to me)
