Struggling with Reverse gear

Featured Replies

FORD S-MAX - 2.0 TDCi Titanium MPV 5dr Diesel Manual Euro 5 (140 ps)

We've noticed that its harder to push the stick into reverse recently.

I looked at the linkage below the gear stick and lubricated it just in case, and I did the same under the bonnet. Everything looked okay to my novice eyes.

At first, I thought I'd cracked it because it moves smoothly, with no issues at all, but the engine wasn't on.

Once the engineer is on the problem returned and it sounds clunkier, there is a minor noise when you let the clutch at the end as well.

I was hoping for a simple adjustment fix after 90,000 miles, any thoughts would be appreciated.

cheers in advance!

Sounds like clutch drag - new clutch and /or master/slave cylinder?
