unknown problem with car

Featured Replies

i recently brought a smax titanium i drove about 150 miles no problem i pulled into a service station for a quick drink got back in the car it started i drove 2 seconds and it killed over wouldnt turn over.

called rac out they said "it was HP pump solenoid sticking" they got it started again i drove another 70 miles turn off the car and wouldnt start again i have noticed there is air in the fuel line we know its not the fuel filter thats been checked.

we bypassed the battery via  jump leads and car started instantly i then drove another 50miles turned the car off went to start tthis morning and started first time no problem?

my Question is Whats wrong ?

To get this going, I'll have to ask, when this intermittent issue occurs:
Will it ALWAYS start when jump leads are used across the battery - if so, battery or electrical issue?
Is there still air in the fuel line (shouldn't be any other than very small amount and even that is a worry)?
Are there any fault codes (Forscan + correct lead) or pay to get it diagnosed (spit!)

RAC Code may point to fuel pump solenoid intermittent issue powers and grounds wiring and solenoid itself need to be checked?
If using Forscan and no codes, I'd initially look at demanded and actual fuel rail pressures whilst it turns over.
If it won't turn over, the starting circuit/relays/earth strap cables, poor connections corrosion (2006 is in that sort of age)
BUT the actual fault isn't clear (to me) and it's intermittent so I don't even know if it's electrical/fuel or something else

So sorry you've bought one and it's already faulty. Had the same a couple of years ago with an Audi a4 S Line. Worked for a month and then kept breaking down.

Hope you get the situation sorted. 🙌

Where is @BIgBen86 to look at our answers or was it fixed and what was the problem to help others in future?
