Ford focus severely shaking when speeding up

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone can help. I have a ford focus active 2020 reg. If I accelerate quickly, especially when getting on the motorway, it shakes violently as if the engine isn't getting enough oxygen. As if there is a loss of power/it is struggling with the demand. I have found to stop it from happening I am having to speed up really slowly/gradually. I have taken it to the ford garage I don't know how many times and I just get fobbed off as "all the lights are green". I have found that after a service the problem seems to have gone. Although this lasts for approx 6 months before it is back again. When the shaking happens I cannot press the accelerator at all as it shakes no matter how little I press on it. I have to kind of glide for a minute or 2 before it stops and can then continue. It is almost like the car is having a seizure. Can anyone shed any light on this? It is not a wheel balancing thing, nor the lane assist (it is turned off), it is something to do with the engine.

Hi K,

Which engine are we talking about?

Did the Ford tech go for a drive with the car to feel it?

Get yourself a free copy of ForScan and see if you can read any codes yourself.:

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.
