Re-watch that YouTube. From memory, it doesn't have to be serviced at a Ford dealer. One of the very very few things the EU did for us was destroy the monopoly of main dealer  servicing to maintain any warranty.

I have just watched it (yawned a few times) but yes he definitely says full service history now accepted from Independent garages (upto 3 months outside of due date) which I believe I have.

I am going to contact my nearest Ford dealership in the morning - although they don't have a great reputation

Thankyou so much

If you do save yourself £1600, I'll only charge a 10% consultation fee 🤣

Best of luck, I really hope it works out for you, and post back here so that others can benefit from your experience...

I've just looked more closely at my service book and there's a 3 month + 23 day gap between services, from when the last owner had it serviced + the garage I bought it from serviced it!

The Ford bulletin also says it can be Ford dealers, independents, or a mix of the two.

Ok, I've just spoken to Ford customer services & I don't qualify for the Goodwill scheme as one of my service dates (2018) was done at 3 months + 23 days outside of due date & they only allow upto 3 months outside of due date 😭 I bought the car in 2019.

Fyi, You need full service history, which doesn't have to have invoices, just your service book stamped along with dates & mileage. You have to take the car to a Ford Dealership to get it looked at & they will then tell you if you qualify

Thanks everyone for all your input with this!

Deb, words fail me, I'm so sorry that they have been such b***ards over this. At least your experience may go towards helping others. Hopefully you'll soon have this horrible experience all behind you.

I wonder if they check the dates with the garages?  If not, I can see people just altering the month in the book, they're usually just scruffy biro anyway.  (Not that I'm suggesting anyone should do that, of course. )

If you're paying for vehicle transport costs anyway.  You might prefer to try this garage which was linked on here earlier in the week.  They seem to be offering rebuilds for less than your belt change quote.

I believe you have to of had the car serviced at a Ford recognised garage. I have always had mine done at an independent

As long as it was serviced at the correct intervals using parts (including oil) that were equal to Fords specification then it still counts.

This seems to be the service side of a used car dealership**.

This does look a very good price (too good?) considering the amount of work involved, though having a browse through the EBay ad it may be that they source the engines through a specialist engine rebuilder? And there's always "the usual" brand new engine option:

https://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-Brand-New-Ford-Service-10-EcoBoost-Engine_18898.jsp

**which brings up another thought. If the oil light is staying out, could possibly move the car on via WBAC etc? Not much less ethical than a slip of the pen in a service book, I guess?😀

I'm not sure sure on that one.  Getting Ford to pay for an engine as a huge global company does seem a bit less unethical than letting a small used car dealer buy it at auction to sell on for a small profit that will be less than the cost of an engine replacement.

(Each to their own though, I don't want to start an ethical debate on here lol!)

No, me neither. I was being a bit tongue in cheek there, should have made that clearer.
