Emergency sos needs service

Featured Replies

OK this is a bit of a diatribe.

My focus St line came up with the above message. One garage advised that it needed a new telematics unit.

The ford pass would not work and the sos button was continuously bright red.

Went to another garage who pluged in a reader and came with a number of error codes.

The battery voltage was low, this may have caused the problem.

Removing fuse 11, passenger footwell fuse box , and waiting 10 mins, replaced fuse, cleared all error codes and system worked, ford pass now working and sos button no longer red. The warning on the dash is no longer bright red.

Cost for cash 50 quid, first garage 660 quid.

I am not saying this will cure this problem every time but I was prepared to try the cheaper option first. Only had this job done today will report back if the problem reoccurs

Like i said on your previous thread, battery may needed to be reset. Pulling fuse has reset battery. Just needs a good drive or engine idling to give the tcu  battery chance to charge up.

This highlights the problem of using generic code readers, no matter how good, or how expensive. It is probable that the use of a Ford dealers system, or the use of FORScan may have shown the issue and that a simple reset would fix the issue.
