S-max 2010 plate 2.0 diesel hitting Rev limiter

Hi I brought an smax about a month ago had cambelt done because there was no proof of it being done the car has done just under 120,000 miles, I took it on its longest journey since ive had it the other day, 60 mile round trip journey there was fine stayed there for 3 hours on the way home which was 30 miles nearly home and I had slow down to 20 mph, when I accelerated back up to speed wasnt particularly hard up to 40mph the revs hit the limiter for a few seconds stayed there after I had taken my foot of the pedal, it done it again coming off of a roundabout then again when I got home I turned the car off then on again rested my foot on the accelerator it shot up to the limiter again and didn't drop until I turned the engine off a few seconds later I was hoping for it to be either throttle position sensor or dirty throttle housing or something but have been told by a couple of people at best its going to need a new turbo

Has any one had this issue? What was the outcome? 



Disconnect the pipe between the turbo and the inlet manifold.  Then start it and give it a rev.

(Loosely cover the end of the turbo pipe as oil will blow out even if there's no fault).

If it still hits the limiter with the turbo isolated then it's not a turbo fault.

Faulty injectors or overfilled oil can also cause this issue.

Thanks Tom, OK if I get chance this evening il give it a go, it's going to the garage when I get in from work tomorrow, 

I know a new turbos going to be £1500 + 

I'm guessing injectors going to be costly aswell
