Screeching sound on cold stard.

Featured Replies

Hello,

My car is a 2023 Ford Focus 1.0 MHEV.

I want to know if anybody else is having the same issue as me. It usually lasts about a minute, and it happens when the car is cold. The car does a screeching sound when I start it and move it in the parking lot, every morning. It is like the sound that old brake pads make when braking, but my issue happens without braking.

Hope someone else knows about this.

bonnet up and start it possible belt slippage, tighten or replace

Thank you very much, but the sound happens when I am moving the car, does this make sense to you?

Thank you again

I can't remember if that engine has a stretch belt for the serpentine belt but if it does, you will need to replace it and make sure everything is absolutely clean and has not oil or grease on before putting a n new one on, I had exactly he same issue you are describing with my old 1.25l fiesta

A 2023 Ford is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and let them sort it. 👍

If it ONLY makes the noise when you move off, then it could be a small stone trapped between a disc and back plate ??

The thing is the sound happens for about 20 seconds, then disappears. And only if the car is cold.

I will do for sure! Just trying to see if somebody had the same issue in the meantime...

I have a video evidence of the sound:

Sounds like the disc brake splash/backing guards catching on one of the disc.

Or a loose pad leaning against the disc.

Doesn't sound engine related at all.
