Key not deteced

Featured Replies

I have a 2013 focus SE, been having trouble with it starting. Would have to turn the key many times before it would finally rollover.

New battery

New key, cut and programmed

Starter tested and fine

New starter switch

New immobilizer

New negative battery cable

New ignition assembly

New trans neutral sensor

Now it just says "no key detected" Everytime. There is 4 keys programmed to the vehicle, And i have two of them. I have no idea what else to do and now I can't even get it to start now.

Any ideas or suggestions what to try next?

BCM maybe?

Well personally before replacing the many parts that you already have, I would have used FORScan to see what the reason is that it doesn't turn over.

On a 2013 Focus it could still be the infamous 'dry solder joints' on the instrument cluster. Next time you try to start it give the dashboard a good 'thump' with your hand just above the IC and see if anything changes.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

Sorry guys, I didn't receive any notifications of your responses.

Originally I had taken the vehicle to a garage and they stated they couldn't do anything, that the only code they pulled led them to believe a new key was needed. I did that and then started replacing everything I could starting with the cheapest items.

I did try hitting try the dash as you suggested, with zero changes.

The most recent code I was able to pull was for the BCM (b10d7:05-2f)
