Hi all, I changed my fuel filter today, I filled it up to them brim, started it up and it ran for 30 seconds and them stopped. It will not start any more. It was towed for 5 miles and not even a splutter... doesn't even sound like the pick up pump is working. Any suggestions greatly received....

A bit suspicious that it has failed after new filter - have you done this before with no problems?

Is this the one with the filter at the back and does it have a lift pump there which obviously needs to be working or...?

If there's air in the line it won't work so getting fuel pulled through using a Mityvac or similar on the return line  and ensuring that any electric pumps are working is my best guess (Our S-MAX has no low pressure pump so always have to pull fuel through)

No never done this before. Cars fairly new to me. Not sure if it's a mechanical pump but can't here fuel tank pump priming either. Definitely air in system would be my guess. I will look into return pipe pressure, will it need special tool? Many thanks again

There isn't an electric pump on these.  You need to manually pull the fuel through using a separate primer.

I was lucky enough to be bought a Mityvac kit by my MBH, I thought I would never need it...how wrong!
Just using it for pulling fuel through after a filter change it has paid for itself and stopped the multiple starter cranks that would otherwise be needed and may not even work!

There are much cheaper kits on e-bay but you will need some pipe and fittings which come with the Mityvac kit:

Much cheaper kit but looks equally useful?:

Has multiple other uses...

I don't rate those squeezy bulb things?
