transmission limited function

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 61 plate Galaxy, 95k miles, automatic. I have the 'transmission limited function' error popping up, first it was once every other month since early 2024, most recently 3 times yesterday. I suspect it's happening more frequently. Happens when I'm stationary but engine on, changing into reverse. Fault clears when I turn engine off and on. Have done some internet surfing, suggests cause could be one of several things. Also read about Seafoam stuff to clear gubbins in the transmission fluid - willing to give that a go but I don't know how to do that and more internet searching doesn't point me to where I can access transmission fluid.

I need to get it fixed as I don't want to rely on the 'turn it off and on again' solution forever, in case the problem is getting worse and I suddenly end up unable to drive it at all.

Does anyone have any advice please?

To save me typing it all out  yet again, please have a search though these forums, there are tonnes of posts on issues with these, with some very good advice on solving them
