NHS NI amazing innovation on App!

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago, the whole NHS here in Northern Ireland launched an integrated IT system (called Encompass). I never fully realised the significance until today when I attended a routine 'diabetic clinic' at the hospital. After doing a urine test, I sat down waiting on consultant, and after a few minutes, my phone sounded a notification. I couldn't believe that the results of my just taken test could now be viewed on the app! The app is fully integrated to your NHS activity, of which you can view results, all communications, appointment letters, and even at some stage 'chat' to NHS personnel.

In the late 90s, Tony Blair squandered £14 Billiuon on an integrated NHS IT system that was so bad, it wasn't even commissioned.

Yes, you could do a whole forum on the failings of the NHS, but they deserve recognition when something goes right...

Do other health areas do something similar?

The nearest we've got just now is confirmed to our GP practice, the only things you can do is check what appointments with GP or nurse that you have coming up, previous appointments and repeat prescription requests.

Hopefully they'll roll out the updated version here someday.

To be fair, we've had that facility for over a decade. The thing that irritates me is that 'repeat' prescriptions still need to be printed out on paper at the GP, and transferred to your allocated chemist. They have no method to transfer it electronically to the chemist.

I now get my Hospital appointment letters online, that's all, the SNP and their Green friends have squandered all the extra Taxes we pay on other things.

We had similar system for around 4-5 years now. I can see results ,blood test they normally say ring for results 3-5 working days but I can see the result on my app at the end of the day usually.

I can book Dr or nurse , appointment,

Thought you would hide your personal details. Surname dipstick? 😂😂

I use the UK NHS app, its amazing and am on the test team for new applications on it. I dont need to spend weeks on the phone to book an appointment. Just fill in whats wrong, answer up to 7 question and they book me in automatically and notify me. I can also view my entire medical and prescription history including ALL test results. Ordering scripts and their at my door within 2 days from the nominated chemist. I dont have the chat option as thats turned on or off by the Gp's themselves.
