Start-Stop Eliminator - Focus MK4 facelift

Featured Replies

Hey Focus Community,

am I the only one who is tired to always switch off the Start-Stop function after starting the engine?

The only one who is convinced that amount of saved fuel due to Start-Stop is greatly overwhelmed by the risk of damage for the Ecoboost motor with the belt running in oil (risk of fuel contamination)?

There was a company selling Start-Stop Elimators, but the look like not selling this any more and do not respond.

Ebay sells these from China, but they do not fit to the Focus MK4 facelift: https://www.ebay.de/itm/235619462726. Did not find anything for the facelift.

Does anyone has one of these devices installed in a MK4 facelift? If so, could you please share the source?

Alternatively: Did the connector and the pinning between MK4 pre facelift and facelift remain unchanged, so that the pre facelift device will work also for facelifted cars?

Many thanks!

I sell a different version for £28 including P&P (UK only). Have it fitted on my own Focus.

Hey Unofix, this looks like an option!

Do you also have a manual for the facelift version of the Focus MK4? Or does the facelift use the same connectors / pinning like the pre facelift?

Thanks!

A 2023 model Focus is known as a Mk4.5 in the UK.

I assume they will still use the same wiring as the Mk4. I'll post a link to the Ford schematic on my Google drive and you can download it.

Cool, many thanks! I'll try to find the schematics of the MK4.5 to be able to compare. Probably this will be the project for Christmas holidays this year. Thanks again!

This is not gonna work! The eliminator. Sorry but that is the fact. In facelift, the start-stop button is no more simple "tie to ground" button. It is a part of the electronic panel communicating directly to Sync via LIN bus. There is no place to hookup "formod" gadget or any other similar toys.

I don't have access to the facelift model. Recently, I hacked focus CAN bus a lot. It is fairly easy to do it injecting certain messages into the CAN bus. To find such messages, simple and free SavvyCAN plus CAN-to-USB ($15) will do.

Many thanks, Piotr! 👍

Was afraid to hear this, but actually already expected that.

Probably it might work to open the switch unit and directly attach the device to the switch? The switch will probably either switch to ground or to 12V.

Will think about this and consider giving it a shot...

Nice, brut-force 😉

There is a chance, that HVAC module can have this two buttons added and enabled. Then, will work as in pre-lift version.
