Mk8 hazard lights pushbutton

Featured Replies

Hello, wonderful people!

Does the hazard lights pushbutton blinks for you guys when you activate them? I mean, like any other car I've had or driven usually does.

Mk8 2018 1.1, that button is always lit, as almost any other pushbutton in the car actually. What I find weird is that when I push it to activate the hazard lights, that button just stays continuously lit, no blinking. Instead, only the turn lights indicators blink (as every other car does too).

Is it like this in this car for all of you, or is there something amiss in mine?

Thanks!

Sounds normal

So yours doesn't blink either? Why did they remove that? A blinking red light catches the eye way easier than just the turn lights indicators on the ipc. 😕

Thanks for your answer!

Cost !!

The indicators and the hazard lights are no longer directly control by the switches.

Instead when you push the button of the hazard switch it sends a signal the the Body Control Module (BCM) to turn on all four indicator lights and make them flash.

The illumination of the hazard switch is just connected to the common panel light supply and so it can't flash. If they had made it flash then that would have required an extra wire/circuit from the BCM to the switch and that would have cost money.

Hey, thanks for your answer!

I'm glad there's nothing wrong with my car, but... Man, it's so sad they cut corners in such simple and cheap stuff. Hard to swallow my grandfather's Renault 12 had more (one at least) advanced features than a car from 2018. 😅
