Why "society" is increasingly obsessed with Nett zero etc

Featured Replies

I was reading an article in The Times the other day about the latest thing to upset student campuses and was actually quite depressed about it as my lad has to grow up in the increasingly mad (Wokewise) and over sensitive world. My wife commented that students (but also many people in general) have always protested about stuff, they famously did so in the 60s and 70s for example. The difference was that back then they had stuff that was actually worth getting upset about whereas now those same people (with the urge to "make the world a better place" and look virtuous whilst doing it....) are going looking for stuff to get worked up about that most people would not consider problematic.
I am convinced this explains why the world is going woke mad, and why so many people are jumping on the "Nett Zero" bandwagon.
Unfortunately I cannot see any way this trend is going to change and it is very concerning to speculate on just what they'll be protesting about in, say, 50 years time !

One of the most dangerous men in Britain right now is Ed Milliband, who is in charge of a massively funded portfolio where he is giving away £12 Billion of our money to OTHER countries to help their green agenda. Of course, it's been part funded by scr*ing our pensioners out of their winter fuel allowance which will save us £1.5 Billion.

'Net Zero' was enshrined in law by what now qualifies her as our worst PM ever, Teresa May, who also destroyed the nations police force by making 20,000 officers redundant as they weren't needed as we now had 'technology' to fight crime! (a policy repeated in regional police forces as well as London)

To save ya'll any more boredom, I'll stop now before I recap on how our country was destroyed by Covid 'lockdown' policy. Honestly, I so mourn the loss of politicians like Thatcher and Prescott. I didn't agree with them all, but they had convictions they believed in. Modern politicians just believe in what the latest focus group tell them to believe in...

Yes, there is a certain type of person who wants to "make the world a better place" (and, just as importantly, look virtuous whilst doing it....) but they have less and less to go at these days because it's all been done before, so their "bar" for what constitutes "unacceptable society" is constantly dropping.
Thus explaining why they get so upset about so little and we live in such an over sensitive society

My cynicism about politicians has never been higher.

Labour (so much to go at...) the fact they blame the country's empty coffers on "Tory economic mismanagement" when by far the biggest cause was the £400 Billion they spent trying to suppress Covid (unsuccessfully as it turned out) is hypocrisy of the highest order as they were all for it at the time, in fact they wanted even more of it.

Tories (apart from the fact they weren't actually Tories anyway) when Sunak claimed he'd put back the all electric car mandate by five years, but kept the fact that 80% of sales had to be electric, so it was all just smoke and mirrors.
