Anyone fancy another General Election??

Featured Replies

I know this petition will make no difference whatsoever, but still, 4 months into a new government it's unprecedented the dissatisfaction felt on their policies...

Just assuming the unheard of happened and another election was called, is there anyone you could trust ?

Yes, but I'd be lambasted as a racist because I believe in legal immigration, NOT illegal immigration. Kinda like the majority of Americans who voted recently for a similar ethos 😁 Oh, and 'net zero' targets should be tossed into landfill!

Good spot, Stephen.

I've signed a few of these petitions over the years, but never seen one gather signatures so fast while I was actually looking at it. It reminded me of the "Mr Bates vs the Post Office" drama where the postmasters saw the figures multiply right before their eyes.

I'm not so sure about that either. The illegals grab all the attention, but are a drop in the ocean (no pun intended) compared to the legal figure.

I'm looking at it purely from a practical perspective. The Dancing Queen is intending to build 1.5 million homes over the Parliament. With immigration (legal and otherwise) running at approaching 700k per annum, that's not even running to stand still, not to mention NHS demand, education needs, providing sufficient energy (green or otherwise), etc, etc, etc.

Going back to the petition, though, it's dangerous territory bearing in mind the many who would like to see a rerun of the Brexit referendum, and there were plenty of fibs told there from both perspectives.

A votes a vote and, provided the process is properly conducted, we should respect the result imo. Don't have to like it though, as my new MP is already fully aware!

I've always been cynical on government house building targets, they actually don't build any homes to mention as the vast majority is done by the private sector. In the same way that they don't create wealth by creating jobs, the private sector creates actual wealth whilst 'government', (public sector) just spends our money on public jobs, not make it.

Interesting when we had an 'empire', there were 85,000 civil servants, now, there are over 500,000 civil servants!

No private sector in the world would spend literally £Billions on the futile 'green' agenda that government spends, but it's not their money so why should they care. Rachel from accounts hasn't a clue on real life outside her comfortable bubble.

You are entirely correct about the net spending on 'illegal' immigrants is peanuts in the grand scheme of things, but it still rankles me that many 100s of thousands are homed in 4 star centrally heated hotels with new iPads,  iPhones, weekly allowances etc whilst our pensioners shiver in freezing homes who can't afford to turn the heating on, and veterans who fought for our very freedom are sleeping rough on our streets.

Yes I know, I've become quite 'right wing' since getting older 🤣

Oh, I don't know. I was considered a bit of a "leftie" in my youth and my views on most things haven't changed much, if at all.  I think it's the world that's changed - but perhaps we all think that as we get older!😀

I think the majority of young people are Lefties because they do not have enough experience of life to make an informed judgement. When they get older and have more experience of life they tend to be more Right Wing.

That is the reason why the SNP dropped the voting age to 16 for the Scottish Parliament Elections, the majority of 16 to 18 year olds will vote for them.

It's also why we send the young off to fight war on our behalf, they haven't learned the realities of it at that age...

When I first signed this petition this morning it had about 300,000 signatures, now, 8 hours later, it has 1,500,000 signatures! I genuinely have never seen such a buoyant petition. I wonder if anyone has made the PM aware  🤣

Will it make 2 Million before midnight today ???

EDIT: 6th December. Not quite made 3 Million

Doubt it, Rachel, from accounts, is as we speak, looking for a huge big voting black hole to shove them in 🤣

Not far off:

PetitionCall a General Election

I would like there to be another General Election.

I believe the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election.

Interesting to.note that in the past, BBC reported a petition of 2000 signatures to save a local post office, but this petition not a mention on their web site 😂

Reported elsewhere, though (as you might expect):

But as I remarked earlier, you can't change election/referendum results just because you don't like the outcome - we've had 8 years of this already.

I know, but the petition, as a bit of fun, is surely at the very least a bit of embarrassment for the PM, just to know how much he is loved 🤣

Absolutely. I just wish they hadn't called for a re-run which will no doubt set off the remoaners again. The PM has apparently responded in " you lost, accept the result" vein and, for once I agree.

It involves a bit more effort than just clicking an online petition, but the way to go imo is to let your own MP know your feelings on Government policy so far. Some in marginal seats already seem to be getting the message that way (including mine).

Way past 2 million now, it will be fascinating to see what figure it reaches, given its still got almost 6 months to run:

Keir says that more than 90% of the signatures don't count because they're from illegal immigrants 🤣🤣
