Overheating 2007, Mk6

Featured Replies

This appears to be a common problem.

Anyone found the cause?

My car symptoms- cooling fan doesn’t operate when it should.

Engine is sound, no compression/power loss.

No water in oil or from exhaust(head gasket ok).

Engine flushed.

Thermostat changed

Relays changed

All connections cleaned

still overheats after a run.

Ive now fitted a manual switch inside the to turn on the fan. This stops it boiling over.

still want to find the cause and make a proper repair.

Could it be the ECM?

Any ideas?
Thanks for your help in advance people.

Check thermostat if ts an after market as had faulty ones of them

Poss air lock in pipes

Do all coolant pipes get hot (including hot air in car)

If it's a two-speed fan, check the resistor on the corner of the cowling.

Have you got an accurate temp reading for how hot it's getting when it boils over?

Is this really a thermal problem. Could it be anything with a gasket leaking combustion into the waterway. Pressure test

Unusual to have a boiling situation. Remove radiator and reverse flush. Remove and check sensor, is the relay being powered.

A multimeter  comes in handy.
