Study shows Tesla has the highest fatal accident rate of any

Featured Replies

I'd love to read more details on the substance of this report. We already know that 'smartphones' are banned in UK law for driving as primarily, they are just far too distracting. Teslas are mainly controlled by huge screens which by their very nature demand the driver takes their eyes off the road to activate the most minor of controls.

Or drivers assume a cloak of invincibility as they've been told their car is just full of HiTech aids that are based on driver safety.

Yep, would definitely like to know more...

Interesting one, this. I suspect as Stephen suggests the conrol layout of many Teslas is certainly a factor (some don't even have indicator stalks) but that's an issue with many vehicles to some extent.

I spotted an article the other day suggesting that another cause is the acceleration of EVs with full torque literally from standstill catching unwary drivers out.

I've found that a lot (most?) fairly innocuous looking EVs can leave my car for dead, so I'm not surprised at that suggestion.

My first ever car, a Datsun 120y, had about 67 BHP, and I thought it was a Porsche beater LOL I have no doubt that at 17, if I'd have had access to an EV spec car with it's performance, I'd be dead long ago, likely taking others with me...

Wow! That's double what my first (850 Mini) had. You are indeed lucky to be alive!😀

But seriously, being skint when you start out in your youth and working your way up the power scale  is probably a very good thing!
