No start

Featured Replies

Hello everyone need some advice please I have a 2011 2.2 diesel no start hot or cold will start and run all day on easy start I have changed fuel filter fuel lines high pressure pump glow plugs all fuel sensor and crank sensor and cam sensor still will not start unless I use easy start no air in fuel lines fuel filter fully full any help would be greatly appreciated

Wow!

What, if any fault codes stick after clearing (Forscan, and list any in the as found condition before clearing?)

It sounds like something "simple" as it is obviously willing to run, just won't start?

EasyStart catches more easily than diesel.  I wonder if the starter just isn't quite turning over fast enough.

No fault codes at all

And a new battery?

What RPM does it show through OBD live data when cranking?

Just checking (always aiming to confirm) if there are no fault codes then the next step is to look at any (and all) relevant live data (also fuel rail pressure, demanded and actual?)

As the entire fuel system seems to have been changed on this one, I'd be looking outside the box for something other than a fuel issue next.

I would be interested to know whether it starts with a downhill bump or a tow.  If it starts without EasyStart in that case then that confirms a starter fault instead of a fuelling fault, and I would suspect that to be caused by a frayed battery earth cable if the battery itself is ok.

If it still doesn't start with a bump then I would agree that the next step is checking live data for RPM and rail pressure which are generally the two things the PCM needs to fire the injectors.

It's showing 250 plus on cranking

That should be just enough, though I'd want to see nearer 300rpm ideally.

What's the rail pressure when cranking?  If you're using Forscan there should be options for both desired pressure and actual pressure as suggested above.

Have the injectors been tested at all?

Injectors are getting to 150 bar when cranking when running they aren300 bar on tik over

150 bar isn't enough when cranking.  That'll be the reason it won't start.

As the HP pump has been replaced I suspect a faulty injector.

Ok thankyou do the injectors need coding

The PCM might adapt over time without coding.  But they should be coded ideally.  They're easy to code using Forscan.

If you do an injector leak-off test that should show whether just one injector is weak internally.
