Ford Galaxy 2011 - Parking sensor not automatically enabled

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a Ford Galaxy 2011.

Since changing a battery, I have noticed that my parking sensors do not automatically trigger when I select the reverse gear. It still works when I manually select it by pushing the button on teh dash board to enable/disable each time.

Any advice on to automatically set parking sensors to be enabled when I select reverse gear?

Cheers

Do the reverse lights still come on?

Hi TomsFocus

You are correct, the reverse lights are also not working.

In that case, the problem is not with the parking sensors, but with the reverse input.  Generally I would suspect a faulty reverse light switch on the gearbox.  The battery change may just be a coincidence as I don't think there's a fuse that could've blown in this circuit.

Hi TomsFocus

I recently just had a re-conditioned gearbox fitted. Do you know if this is easy to hook up? The place that fitted the reconditioned gearbox is quite a bit away from me, if a mechanic could do this easily Id be minded to bring it to them rather than the gearbox centre.

Thanks again

Yes, this is an easy job.  Either the gearbox garage forgot to plug the cable back in, or the wrong switch has been fitted.
