gear box getting stiff

Featured Replies

hi everyone I'm new around here

I've got a 2007 1.6s fiesta I've only had it about a month, all was fine but now in the mornings the clutch and gear changing is fine for the journey to work but on the way home the clutch and gear changing gets really stiff, trying to find out the problem has any one had this happen? and does any one no the problem?

any help is appreciated

thanks craig

Yep, easily sorted.  There is a nylon bush on the top of the gearbox where the selector actuating shaft goes in.  This bush absorbs moisture over the years and causes the shaft to bind.

Its especially noticeable when hot.

From memory take the front panel off, and all will be evident. A 12.0 reamer will be required to ream the bush out. But a 12mm drill will probably do.

I've done both of ours , a 55 plate and a 56 plate.
