Replaced the battery on Focus Mk4.... next steps?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

At the risk of getting my ***** kicked, as I know this is probably a topic that has been discussed quite a few times, Id like to ask what are the next things to do after replacing the battery? I read the manual and it says to reset the clock, window bounce back and drive a few miles but I know there is a battery reset "trick" that might need to be done as well.. I also have an OBD2 scanner that I can use to reset other things if needed.

Cheers!

Well before fitting the new battery you should have charged it for at least 12 hours.

Then you should reset the BMS using the method in the video below:

I replaced mine recently.  I was nervous about it, but changed it without issue.  I did the battery reset procedure, left it running a bit and took it for a drive.  I thought the car ran slightly lumpier at idle, but by the 2nd day I'd forgotten about it.  No window or sunroof issues, everything worked. Was disconnected about 20 to 30 minutes.  Since then I've disconnected the battery 2 or 3 times trying to resolve a separate unconnected issue but no problems.
