Audio Pop and Radio turns Off

Featured Replies

Just recently started -  the Radio starts OK and then after a short period there is a low frequency "pop" and the radio goes off until you restart the vehicle.

The popping continues even with the ignition off, car locked and the keys a fair distance away. The only way to stop the noise and, possibly prevent battery drain, is to remove the fuse to the ACM.

I've been told that it is a SYNC3 module and, from what I have gleaned from the web, this is not a straight swap with another unit. It has to be "programmed" to the car. In the USofA there are companies repairing the said module, but I have  not been able to locate anyone in the UK doing the same. Does anyone know of such a company?

Additionally, how to get the damn module out of the dash? I have searched as much as I can and can find no-one having done a removal and put the process on the good old YouTube. Help needed here if anyone has some detail on this.

A bit of research, some people have said that it could be a speaker shorting out, Not sure that this could be a the problem given that it continues without any power. There shouldn't be any power going to it when turned off. Therefore it is a spurious frequency/voltage output from the ACM. In my simple view it leads to the ACM being at fault. Some have mentioned that it is a faulty ground to the ACM unit. Can't quite see how this can be the case as it continues after the power is off. I may be wrong on both of these assumptions and would be more than happy to hear an explanation on how they could be the case.

Any help from anyone to assist an old-man would be appreciated.

Cheers
Adrian
