DCT7 interlock solenoid clicking

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am not sure if it's my idea or is the interlock solenoid clicking too loud in my car?

I have never really paid attention to it until now.

Here's a video with it clicking when I press and release the break at P.

Very slightly louder than most cars, but I expect quite typical on the Mk8 as the build quality is poor and the sound insulation has been reduced in many areas.

Right. Good to hear that. Funny that I never noticed it before. Well perhaps because I never pressed my break repeatedly before.

At least you know it works.

Some white grease will quieten it down

Yeap, but now that I know it's normal it's no biggie, I'll try to remember to ask that next time that I have a scheduled service.

I don't really much experience with many other automatic gearboxes apart from my Fiesta. Maybe some rental cars but i really did not pay attention to them.  Anyway, yesterday I happened to drive a Toyota Yaris mk4 and I tried to listen for the solenoid clicking noise to see how it compares with the Fiesta.

Even though it was outside of a city and really quiet i could hear no clicking at all. I doubt it has better build quality than the fiesta and yet no noise. How's that possible? Is it just a different implementation of the locking mechanism?
