Van dead after false alarm

Featured Replies

Looking for advice.

My 2009 Transit will turn over but won't start. Had been working fine the previous day. In the morning the alarm went off (false alarm). I got into the van ok with the remote and the van cranks over but will not start. Have disconnected the batteries to see if it cleared any faults, but no joy. Would it be the transceiver ring/immobiliser  that's the problem? Don't know if it would still crank if it was the immobiliser.

Any help appreciated.

New transponder ring £250 so don't fancy buying one if it's not that!!!

Different Ford models do different things regarding the immobiliser and the cranking.

Is the immobiliser LED flashing at it's normal steady pace ?

You need to use FORScan and read the DTC's before you start buying and swapping parts. If there is a DTC "U" code for theft detected then the van will not start until that code is cleared.

Thanks unofix.

Led is flashing at a steady speed.

That, almost rules out the immobiliser. You now need to use FORScan to check and clear any "theft detected" codes or the van won't start.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.
