Fiesta st200 life expectency

Featured Replies

My name is David and I recently came across a Fiesta St200 for sale (in my price range) I got exited, but I saw that it had around 215K km(133K miles)

I was wondering what the usual life expectancy of this car is, and is it worth it to buy it with this mileage.

Thank you

Hi David,

Without a bit more detail.on the actual car/price you're only likely to get generalisations.

Your profile says London, yet you're quoting kms. Is this an import?

Anyway, to generalise - no reason why any car should not go to 150k miles and beyond, given careful use and correct maintenance. STs  tend to be driven hard though, and there Is a known issue with cylinder liners which is an expensive fix.

I'd advise researching the history of the car very thoroughly, if you have doubts and/or can't afford to budget for any repairs which crop up, walk away.

There is useful advice on buying a Mk 7.5 ST on specific ST forums, such as: https://www.fiestastoc.com/

Hi Roger,

Thank you for the information and the tips,

I am from Romania actually but I love the fiesta st and it is quite difficult to find forums for fiestas in general from Romania. I also know that UK is the place where these cars are loved the most.

So I decided to make a profile and ask some questions here, I hope that is not a problem.

The car is for sale for 7200 euros so about 6000 pounds,

Here is a picture of the car.

Thank you

As Roger said, I would ask over on https://www.fiestastoc.com/. That forum is dedicated to Fiesta ST owners.

I sold my Mk7 ST-2 at 42,000 miles, so can't be much help I'm afraid.

Perhaps you could amend your profile to avoid confusion ?

Not at all. But most members on here will be UK as you suggest so not familiar with what checks you can do in your country. For instance, here we can look at the history of the annual compulsory vehicle test (MOT) and there are numerous vehicle checking sites such as: https://www.checkcardetails.co.uk/ - we don't know if you have access to something similar in Romania.

There is also an active mainly US-based forum which seems to also have members from other countries, which might be worth a look: https://www.fiestastforum.com/

It's a good idea to amend your profile as Unofix suggests. Specifications can differ considerably between countries.
