Focus Mk1 Radio Questions

Featured Replies

So my Focus came with a sony radio in it, which had adapter plugs connecting it to the three main wiring bundles. I have been given a working Ford 6000Aux CD RDS E-O-N Radio from a Ford Ka. I have installed it and it seems to work apart from fitting in due to the different shaped front panel. The only issue I have is that the steering wheel controls do not operate it.

Should they work if all three cables are plugged in or does this radio not work with Steering wheel controls?

If so what model ford radio would work with steering wheel controls and have bluetooth for calls and streaming?

I've enclosed pictures of the front panel and the cables.

You will likely be able to find a Mk1 Focus radio head unit on ebay fairly cheap.

If it is anything like the Mk2, the bluetooth capability was a separate unit that plugged into the back of the radio.

I would think this would have been an expensive option on a Mk1 so perhaps not common now.

As the newest Mk1s are now 20 years old, the factory unit is also likely only able to be used for phone calls and not streaming. I believe this was the case with the Mk2 factory installed setup.

I'm not sure any Mk1 would have had Bluetooth even as an option.

Or at least, not from launch anyway. I'm sure I've seen somewhere that the first Bluetooth device hit the market after that - 1999/2000?

The car user manual for the Mk1 is still available to view on the UK Ford site. Unfortunately the audio manual is separate and not listed.

I can't find it uploaded online anywhere. Can anyone on here who has a copy check if bluetooth is mentioned?

I did have a brochure for the ST170.  Not sure which year this was though.
