MK6 06 Fiesta Loud Exhaust

Featured Replies

I took a 2 min video when I was under my car and noticed these 2 pics. Has the pipe just completely disconnected from the back box? Also that by back box is dented on the side facing the suspension.

I’m wondering if a) could this be causing knocking, because it’s not connected to the pipe and b) is this fixable with something like this and some paste? https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/holts-gun-gum-flexiwrap-ends-and-bends-repair-kit-554770520?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD1aCJiW7m5jTc9yph3TVr5pAhT7f&gclid=CjwKCAiA34S7BhAtEiwACZzv4TMiNdfpAUhPKFzzqsy5A2n54alLUadsACxMxJWYlAd71S5sJhwUVBoCi4AQAvD_BwE

I don't think you'll be able to bodge that.  Needs a new backbox.

Time for a replacement exhaust, unless you can bodge it up!

Damn, any idea how much that’ll be? Was looking to scrap it in a few months

Yeah was thinking that, come clean off. Anything other than paste and flexi wrap I can use? Even to get it by another month

You could wear a cap backwards and start saying "yous" to more than one person, or "ya get me" at the end of each sentence and live with it until MOT time🤪

When my own exhaust snapped off at the cat, I just pulled it off the hangars, chucked it in the boot, and drove the car for another month before scrapping it.  But I can't really recommend that to anyone else.

There’s only so many “wag1s” a man can say, MOT is in June

How long is  "a few months"? Is it 5 weeks or is it 7 months?

And how loud is it? Do people turn and stare at you as you drive past them? Or is it just that YOU can hear it when you're driving it. A few months ago I drove for 20 minutes  behind a brand new BMW and I could hear its exhaust note all the time - really annoying but I think that was how it was designed.

It MAY make less noise if you remove the box so that the exhaust has a freer passage, but I don't know. Sounds like you have very little to lose either way, if you are to scrap it soon.

More like 5 weeks so say end of February. Pretty loud that I’m changing gears before 2k revs. Previously only I noticed while driving, but now it’s definitely turning heads.

Looking at just buying a back box on euro car parts for £70 and fitting it myself this weekend, saw it on eBay for £45 but not sure it’ll get here in time. I’ll need a hacksaw to get the current one off by looks of it.

Could do, looks like there’s a hole or 2 in the back box itself so not sure which is louder.

You can get a proper exhaust pipe cutter for about £15, a lot easier than to use a hacksaw.

By the looks of it, already has been repaired as there’s a clamp a further down. So was thinking of getting a mini hacksaw just to get the previous back box off, ie cut a bit so I can peel the pipe and pull off easier.

Could be worse I have a stupid 90’s cherry bomb exhaust on mine, can’t wait to change it soon 😂.

funny thing is I would have loved to have one about 30 years ago, must be getting too old now 👴🏻
