Featured Replies

Hi, not my focus but belong my grand-parents.

He asked me to having look at source where water leaking at rear nearside boot area side panel is as he noticed dampness spot somewhere leaking that water got in as the photo is referred... Thankfully with I forgot to take photo but google map come save day!
I have to checked search google and mostly I could find closest are water leaking esate from someone else age ago but it's have t rack... roof rail or something you call..?! was cause of water leakage but that isn't answered due my grand-parents Focus doesn't have one fitted.

Anyone got clue where possible leaking?
Only I am think of is, rear light wiring loom seal is failing as familiar happen my old Fiesta but not sure if it same or different. (My fiesta have plastic like clip with foam to sealed up to prevented leaking but not sure if Focus had same.)

Their Focus spec:
2010 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi (a french junk engine) Zetec Estate

Have a look at the plastic inserts that the rear lights screw into, to secure them to the body. These originally would have foam seals on them but they rot away with time. Result is water leaking past the lights and into the boot area via the boot side trims usually on the hatchback models.

They can be replaced but it’s fiddly getting them out and the usual fix is to dry things out then put sealant around the inserts plus maybe some sealer runs to help guide water away from them.

If you have plastic roof trim it can leak from there at the most rear of the trim
